Ash is a longtooth shifter in his mid-fifties that lived in the Dazsian countryside. He is pretty hairy with a thick beard and a lot of scars from years of battle. When he was younger he was trained in and fought with the army of Dazsia. It was in the army that Ash fell in love with his wife, and when he retired from the military he settled down with her and started a family. But when the governor decided to wage a selfish war against the neighboring country, Ash was called again to serve.

Ash refused to go back to war, but when the army threatened his family and home if he didn’t comply he was forced into action. He packed up his family and attempted to slip out of the country unnoticed. When the captain of the guard found out, Ash was branded a traitor and hunted down. Ash fought and killed the small team of soldiers sent after him but not before they crashed and set fire to his wagon, killing his wife and two boys. He buried them and, filled with an unearthly rage, stalked back to start his war.

Gaining an alliance with the neighboring country, Ash led a campaign against the Dazsian government. Towards the end of the war he was betrayed and captured. Ash was tortured and, when he wouldn’t talk, publicly hanged from a tree on a hill in an attempt to demoralize the revolutionists. But it only served to further incite them.

In truth, Ash was only briefly dead, but his shifter blood kept his body and mind intact. A sudden storm blew in the night he was killed and a lightning bolt split the tree, dropping Ash to the ground. It instantly killed the guards stationed there, and the electricity restarted Ash’s heart. As he regained consciousness, Ash could hear the voice of Kord rolling among the thunder, saying “Not today…”

Awake, Ash’s wounds quickly healed and he was able to drag himself into the forest to rest. Ash intended to return to his people to lead them once again, but upon seeing the rallying effect of his death, he did not reveal himself. Instead, he worked in secret, killing enemy scouting parties and ransacking caravans, and rumors spread about the “Beast of Daszia”. After a few weeks of this, the war was over. The people renamed the capital city to Ashington, in memory of their great warlord, and began rebuilding.

With no family to return to, and longing for the sweet release of the death that was taken from him, Ash left Dazsia in search of the next battle. He’ll never throw his life away, but he looks forward to the day when he’ll fall in battle and see his family again. While traveling, Ash heard of some warriors that halted an orc invasion out west and they sounded like just the people he should be around.

Ash tracked down the Storms of Fate and won them over with demonstrations of his bravery and athleticism. With a few adventures with the Storms of Fate under his belt, Ash has recently become an outlaw in Overlook following the “premature” execution of a bandit and escaping from prison. However, he continues to work with the Storms under the alias Harry Johnson, hiding his identity from the Overlook guards.
